The Cavallin del Bufalo farmhouse is located just thirty kilometers from the town of Capalbio , which can be reached by following a path immersed in the unspoiled nature of the Maremma woods.

Without a shadow of a doubt Capalbio is one of the best known and most appreciated villages in the Tuscan Maremma , formerly the home of brigands and wild boars, it is one of the most popular destinations for VIPs and movie stars.

From here the view embraces the entire Maremma and descending to the plain, beyond the fragrant pine forests, you can suddenly see the sparkling sea. The town, on the southern border of Tuscany, stands on a wooded and luxuriant hill of the typical Maremma scrub. In ancient times it was the castle of the Tre Fontane di Roma (VIII century) and in the medieval period it was owned by the Aldobrandeschi family; it then passed to the Orsini Counts and in 1416 it was annexed to the Sienese Republic. Later the territory was assigned to Cosimo dei Medici and a slow and inexorable demographic and economic decline began. The subsequent passage to the Lorraines marked the country for the loss of autonomy and for the great social disintegration that ensued. This situation gave birth to the scourge of banditry that terrorized the Maremma for many years.

Tradition has it that Tiburzi, the most famous Maremma brigand, spent most of his hiding in Capalbio, whose exploits became so legendary that they are still remembered today. Definitely worth visiting is the Tarot Garden, the supreme work of the French artist Niki de Saint Phalle , who created sculptures in concrete and polyester inside the park, covered with splendid ceramic mosaics, glass and mirrors. Contemporary art as a link between the natural environment and social space, a territory understood as a garden and landscape. Nowadays Capalbio is a destination for tourists who appreciate its beauty and wild charm.
